Little Mistakes that Cause Big Problems in Accounts Payable
It’s often the little things that if left unresolved, end up causing the biggest headaches. What’s even more hellish is that these nightmares have a way of popping up at precisely the wrong time. Typically, the solutions aren’t elaborate or expensive; they simply involve identifying the mistake and rectifying it. AP Now’s editorial director spends a good portion of her time talking to and corresponding with professionals who work in and manage the accounts payable function.
As a result of these interactions, she has identified 25 mistakes or oversights that on the face of it seem minor but could result in a major headache and financial loss for the organization where these difficulties occurred. All the issues discussed have caused at least one organization (and usually more) big problems. We’ll address why the issue can cause complications and how to fix it.
While it is unlikely that any organization will find itself confronted with all the issues discussed in this session, most will have more than one or two. We hope you’ll join us for this informative one-hour session when we’ll identify and explain why these 25 seemingly insignificant actions can cause your organization a ton of trouble.
Attendance at this event is expected to be quite high. Therefore, we’ve scheduled two sessions, and will add a third if necessary.
The registration link for this event will be published in the free weekly ezine, in late September or early October. Sign up for the ezine here.
Please join us for the special 60-minute session to get the information you need to protect your organization.

About our expert: Mary Schaeffer has the inimitable ability to find accounts-payable-related solutions that really work—without making a major dent in the bottom line. Armed with a degree in math and a graduate degree in finance, she takes a “roll up your sleeves and dig into the details” approach to finding solutions to those problems that cause migraines for CFOs, controllers, and managers.
Fifteen years spent researching and writing about payment issues gives Mary Schaeffer a unique vantage point. Combine that with an almost equal amount of time spent in the corporate trenches of several large finance and treasury departments and you’ll see why she’s become known as America’s leading accounts payable expert.
A wide variety of institutions have taken advantage of her unique expertise: John Wiley & Sons has published over a dozen of her books; CRYSTALLUS, Inc. (www.ap-now.com) relies on her know-how to direct its professional publication, training, and consulting business; and the AICPA features her articles in its Corporate Finance Insider. Let’s not overlook the long list of organizations that have turned to her for best practice guidance of their accounts payable function and training of their accounts payable staff.
