Poetry in Accounts Payable
__________________________________________________
We recently asked readers to submit either a Haiku (17 syllable Japanese poem) or longer poem. Readers of our weekly ezine were invited to vote.
There was a tie. The two winning entries follow:
- Hate 1099s!
Yeay! We pay with a P-card
Now, bank must report!
- Company watchdogs
Never appreciated
Until audit time!
The runners-up in our AP Poetry Contest:
- 1) Desk drowns in papers
As the last spot quickly fades
Into a new year.
- 2) Oh to tell of the joys of working in accounts payable today.
Checking purchase orders, matching invoices, watch the online payments!
New vendor, use tax again, year end filings, when is the next check run?
- 3) Please, where is my check?
Ah, if you took a P-card
You would be paid now.
- 4) Keying and Keying
Requests, Ariba, Concur
Now add refunding!
- 5)Multiple systems
Cannot find the invoices
Research craziness
- 6)Incomplete report
Need more detail, resubmit
Users need training
- 7) Missing receipts for
Reimbursable expenses
Rejection is key
- 8) Account on hold?
Invoice submitted last month
Likely story
- 9) Negative is red
Positive is black and white
What color is zero?
- 10) Manic Monday *sigh*
Playing catch-up all day long
Wishing for weekends
And a poem submitted by our colleague, Jim Frazier, the Sales Tax Guy (and not part of the contest).
Collect sales tax, you kept?
Beware the tax man, he'll catch you.
Orange suits will look nice.
