Worker Classification: Independent Contractor or Employee?—You Can’t Afford to Get It Wrong!

Did you know that President’s Obama’s 2010 budget assumes that the federal crackdown on misclassified workers will yield at least $7 billion over 10 years? And that's not the only threat to organizations misclassifying workers. More than two dozen states also have stepped up enforcement, often by enacting stricter penalties. The issue is serious enough for the New York Times to run a page-one story on the risks of misclassification. It is not a pretty situation. That’s why we've invited Steve Mercatante, Esq. to revisit this issue for AP Now's webinar program.

Please join us on April 22rd for 60-information paced minutes with tax expert, Steve Mercatante. After this session you will be able to:

• Pinpoint your expanded risks with today’s stepped-up auditing;

• Judge your exposure if you misclassify a worker;

• Review the classification basics;

• Identify the most common traps when misclassifying workers; and

• Enact best practice guidelines for hiring independent contractors to avoid a tax nightmare and much more.

There will be plenty of time at the end of the session to ask questions. Once you've registered, send your e-mail questions in advance to publisher@ap-now.com and they will be included in the program. You'll also have a chance to e-mail your questions during the webinar.

This event qualifies for both IAPP continuing education credit and NASBA CPE.
